Kitzbuhel, Austria
Kitzbuhel is the GB Ski Team's "home". Although not founded at the resort, it has been the one most frequented when the team has skied together, it is the spiritual home. The initial attraction was the Brass Monkeys bar, run by Paul and Stewey, and the lure of the famous Hahnenkamm ski run/race.
The Pension Johanna has become the favoured accommodation, and now the boys have bought their own bar, Flannigans. The Londoner is THE place for apres ski, and the Short and Curlies provide the grooves for tired legs to re-awaken with the aid of Mikey's Jagermeisters.
The skiing is good when the snow is favourable, a lot of varied runs covering a lot of km's now the mountains are linked. At busy times, the queuing is painful, but this year is the first time we have experienced it as due to a lack of snow, skiers were crammed onto the same runs.
Kitz has a reputation for being for the rich, but whilst many ski bunnies are well presented, the prices are by no means extortionate for a ski resort, certainly less than France.
