Mayrhofen, Austria This is the place where I first put on a pair of skis (I would have said it's where I first learned to ski, however I don't believe I have done that yet).Mayerhoffen has many different mountains to ski A-Horn and Penken mountains are the areas accessable from the town, but once on the Penken, you don't need to ski the same slope twice as there are numerous runs of all levels. Nearby are some lovely slopes to visit if you fancy a change....Hintertux, hopfugen, sell-am-see are all within 15mins drive offering many more runs. After a good days skiing.............get ready to party (hard) as there are many bars, literally bouncing with music and apres skiers. In my experience, Mayrhofen has the best Apres-ski I have been to..... but it only lasted as long as about 9 o'clock. From then it was a dead town except for a couple of places, namely Scotland Yard and one of the 2 nightclub, Schlüsselalm. Me and Warrior had a right couple of nights in those places, all of which you can see in "Out and About - On The Piste". Namely, a dart in the eye and a dance with some gay-boy Austrians! Quality!
